In 2012, Pan-kun snapped. The clever chimp was leaving the stage at the Aso Cuddly Dominion Zoo and he attacked a student trainee. After that, he officially retired from performing. However, he still lives at the Zoo and visitors can visit him there (albeit while he’s in captivity).

The attack was sudden and it left “cuts on her forehead, ears, ankles, and back.” The woman was flown by a helicopter to a hospital where she was hospitalized for weeks.
