Is Terranea where Marineland used to be?
Terranea Resort is an $480-million hotel and spa just completed on the former site of Marineland of the Pacific in Rancho Palos Verdes. The only one of its kind in Los Angeles County, it will compete with the most luxurious coastal resorts in South Orange County.

It’s impossible to swim and the nearest sandy swimming beach is Redondo Beach, a 20-minute drive away. Terranea compensates for its rocky shoreline with four outdoor pools, all heated and all with great views of the ocean.

AdvertisementLuckily for all of us, the trails and beaches at Terranea are open to the public. A dirt path called the Bluff Trail follows the bluff’s edge around the perimeter of the resort. At the southern point this trail provides access to a rocky shoreline, but the best beach access point is east of there.
