Transabdominal cervical cerclage (TAC) is a surgery performed to prevent pregnancy loss in patients with the most challenging cases of incompetent cervix (cervical insufficiency).

Its incidence among pregnant women is 0.5 to 1 % but can be as high as 75 % among women with pre-term birth. Transvaginal cerclage (TVC) is the common therapy of cervical insufficiency. However, this technique has several limits, especially in twin pregnancies.
